11th Step Yoga

All level
Unheated

Recovery programs nationwide are recognizing that an element of spirit is critical for letting go of self-harming behaviors. If you struggle with substance abuse, depression, eating disorders, gambling addiction, binge eating, anxiety – if you feel in any way that your life has become unmanageable – 11 Step Yoga is an island of sanity. In 12-step recovery programs, Step 11 is seeking through meditation to improve conscious contact with the higher power and spiritual union. It ties in to the limbs of yoga: Dharana, or training the mind against chatter and distractions; Dhyana, stillness of mind; and Samadhi, union and interconnectedness. Through light yoga poses, breathing exercises, meditation, and discussion, we will apply yogic principles to recovering from addictions and emotional imbalances. This class is donation-based. Whether you bring $2 or $20, we welcome you.

Ashtanga Yoga

All levels
Unheated

Ashtanga yoga is a series of postures that flow with your breath, healing and cleansing your body while building strength and alignment. This creates intense internal heat and a purifying sweat. You'll learn breath-synchronized movement (vinyasa), victorious breath (ujjayi pranayama), mental focus (dristi), and locking energy to conquer fatigue (bandhas). You'll create an inner fire that purifies the nervous system, detoxifies your organs, and gives you a powerful stretch. You'll leave class feeling lighter, stronger, and calm.

Core Twist

All level
Moderate heat

Core Twist is a total-body workout incorporating the best of Pilates and yoga! Your core is the very center of you: it protects your spine and internal organs, so protect it with strength and flexibility A strong core improves your overall strength, agility, flexibility, and balance. You'll learn specific training methods to stabilize the lower back, pelvis, and spine, which will improve your posture and alignment. You'll enhance your movement by integrating breath. Core Twist is low-impact, gentle on joints, and suitable for all fitness levels. This class is especially helpful for lower back pain, athletes (especially runners and cyclists), and anyone who wants to tone and firm muscles wihtout adding bulk. You'll leave class feeling refreshed and standing taller!

Dynamic Yin Yoga

All levels
Heat plus humidity

Dynamic Yin is the perfectly balanced mix of TriBalance Hot and Yin Yoga. For the first half of class, you will build strength and flexibility through a vigorous sequence.  This dynamic practice will help raise your energy levels to break through tensions and blocks. The second half of class will bring you to a still, quiet space through long, relaxing floor poses. Yin focuses not only on your muscles, but also ligaments, connective tissues, joints, and gentle traction on bones of the legs, hips, and spine. Dynamic Yin is for you if you want more balance, if you want to build strength and flexibility, if you want to clear your mind, or if you want a full-body workout followed by a meditative stretch.

Kickboxing Conditioning

Unheated
All level

Enjoy a high-energy workout in a safe, noncompetitive, light-contact environment. A vigorous kickboxing session will boost your heart rate and your mood. You'll learn realistic self-defense techniques in this Muay-Thai influenced class. We will practice hitting and kicking mitts, but no sparring. The movement style teaches you how to transition from relaxed to exploding into strikes with legs, knees, and elbows.

Kickstart Yoga

All level
Heat plus humidity

Are you ready to mix it up a little? Kick start your TriBalance practice with our Kickstart class. The theme will change from week to week so you can explore many different aspects of your practice. We will often focus on a different realm of postures than you will experience in a TriBalance Hot Yoga class, broadening your vocabulary of movement. The poses will be all-level, with intermediate modifications available.

Mysore Yoga

Unheated
All level

The Mysore Style of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is named after the city in India where the late Sri K. Pahttabhi Jois started this style of asana. New students begin the practice by learning the sun salutations and a few of the initial standing postures. As you begin to integrate the sequence into your memory and feel a sense of ease in the postures, we add additional poses. All students begin with the primary series, “yoga chikitsa,” which means yoga therapy. This practice heals and strengthens the body, preparing it for a deeper physical and meditative practice. Because the Mysore Style is taught in an individualistic manner, adjustments and modifications will help you progress in the safest and most appropriate way.

Om Zone Warrior Conditioning

All level
Moderate heat plus humidity

The Samurai trained their bodies to be fast, flexible, and strong, and they trained their minds to face enemies without flinching. These elite warriors knew all about being in "the zone" – and you can learn how to summon the zone and become an Om Zone Warrior.  Om Zone Warrior Conditioning is a discipline of action-meditation for anyone from athletes to dancers to chronically stressed-out computer jockeys. It will give you the physical strength to overcome fourth quarter fatigue, and the mental strength to deal with anything from traffic jams to the final shot. Through body weight dynamics, isometrics, and functional training, you'll build whole-body strength and stamina. Through focus training you will learn to strengthen and cultivate the mind. Body, mind, and spirit grow stronger together.  The class integrates yoga to add flexibility, balance, and control. Whether you're overcoming stress, battling the bulge, or honing your competitive edge, train your inner warrior here.

Pranayama

Unheated
All level

Pranayama is the practice of breath control and the foundation stone of meditation. Throughout history, people have gone for surprisingly long time without food or water, but the current Guinness record for holding the breath is less than 20 minutes. Breath is life – yet since it's involuntary, we often take it for granted. When your mood changes, your breath changes. Pranayama will explore the reverse: when you change your breath, you can change your mood. Breath control improves yoga practice, athletic performance, circulation, digestion, and helps the body heal from a variety of imbalances and ailments.

Relaxation Through Meditation

Unheated
All level

Scientific research has proven that meditation helps your memory, your mood, your well-being, and your health. Relaxation Through Meditation will give you the tools you need to create your personal meditation practice. We'll begin the class with breathing exercises (pranayama) to bring the heart rate down, balance the blood pressure, and stabilize the energy. Next we'll do a guided meditation to deepen your relaxation and bring you a sense of peace. Class will end with a silent meditation. With time and practice, you will be able to create your own meditation practice at home as well as raising vibrations with the community.

Warm Vinyasa Flow

All levels
Moderate heat

Go with the flow in our blissful Warm Vinyasa class. The movements melt into each other with a natural breath connection, a meditative experience that develops strength, flexibility, and body awareness. The poses and transitions will move at a deliberate pace, allowing you to find the greatest expression of each pose. Some sessions will explore inversions, the benefits of which include calming the nervous system, reversing the effect of gravity to slow the aging process, and strengthening immune function. You'll work your entire body in this exhilarating, feel-good session. Class will end with a short meditation. You'll leave feeling relaxed, calm, and open.

Yin Yoga

All Levels
Moderate Heat

Yin Yoga combines the traditional seated yogic postures with Chinese Taoist qi theory, balancing energy flow through chakras and meridians. This class will focus on long holds in a relaxed state to gently traction the bones of the legs, hips, and spine. Long holds of floor postures with relaxed muscles will restore elasticity to your fascia, ligaments, and tendons, restoring your joints to optimum health. This is particularly helpful for athletes, because most people don’t leave sports for muscle injury, but for joint or tendon reasons. Yin Yoga balances a lifestyle of vigorous movement with stillness, calming your nervous system. It is also beneficial for those who work at a desk, as Yin Yoga helps you sit comfortably for longer periods of time. You will be able to focus your awareness to areas that are out of balance, focusing and condensing qi and prana for healing.

Yoga for Kids

For children age 5-12
Unheated

Yoga for Kids takes a playful approach to an ancient tradition, designed specifically for school-aged childrens' rapidly growing bodies and minds. Each class will present a yogic theme in a way that children can relate to: the instructor will share stories, and guide the children to act them out with yoga postures. Young yogis will explore the breath, guided meditation, and active discussions. They will learn techniques to help them stay calm and centered in a fast-paced, stressful world. Yoga for Kids was designed by an elementary school teacher who has extensively researched social and emotional learning so that her own young yogis could have fun with their peers, exercise their bodies, open their hearts, and expand their minds. Just $5 per child!
