Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine that works by stimulating the body's natural healing abilities. We place very fine, sterile, one-time-use needles in specific points along energy meridians of the body.  You will usually feel an initial sensation of pressure followed by deep relaxation during a treatment.  Research shows that acupuncture stimulates endorphins, the body's natural healers, as well as brain chemicals that promote circulation, immune function and hormonal balance. Acupuncture is excellent for pain, inflammation reduction, and physical and psychological problems. One of the greatest advantages of acupuncture is the absence of undesirable side effects and the sense of well-being after treatments. Many patients receiving treatment will note after a few sessions a reduction in daily stress and a more balanced state of mind. . . these side effects are ones worth embracing.

Chinese Herbal Therapy

Traditional Chinese herbal formulas have treated a variety of conditions for more than 3,000 years. Many of today's pharmaceutical drugs have their basis in herbalism.  We customize the treatment to your constitution and condition, using anywhere from two to eighteen types of herbs. These formulas are available in teas, pills, powders, or tinctures.

Chinese Massage (TuiNa)

Chinese Massage is a hands-on body treatment that uses Chinese Taoist and martial art principles to bring the body into balance. The practitioner may brush, knead, roll, press and rub the areas of the body to activate energy moving in the meridians as well as the muscles. The practitioner will use traction, massage with the stimulation of acupressure points, and range of motion stretches. This can help treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal disorders. TuiNa is invigorating to the body during the treatment and very relaxing after.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Taping gives support and stability to joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion, which decreases inflammation, swelling, edema and pain. Kinesio-taping is a technique based on the body's own natural healing process. This method activates the neurological and circulatory systems.

Electro-Stimulation Acupuncture

Electro-Stimulation Acupuncture passes small, painless electrical currents between pairs of acupuncture needles. We can stimulate several pairs of needles at a time, impulses passing from one needle to another, usually for less than 30 minutes at a time. This technique is excellent for conditions when qi is not flowing properly throughout the body. Stagnation of qi is visible in many conditions like chronic pain syndrome or paralysis/stroke.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient medical treatment that relies upon creating a local suction to mobilize blood flow in order to promote healing. It invigorates the body, stimulates the immune and lymphatic systems, improves digestion, increases circulation, and opens up the lungs and respiratory system. The technique can leave some superficial, painless skin bruising that will go away in a few days.

Plum Blossom

Plum Blossom or Seven Star Needle is tapping lightly on an area of the body ith a small, sterile, seven-pointed hammer. This technique softens scar tissue, regenerates flesh, treats burns, acne, varicose/spider veins and balding on the scalp.

Ear Seeds

Ear seeds are a non-invasive treatment, and an excellent take-home to supplement your acupuncture treatment. They are excellent for children or patients who aren’t comfortable with needles.  The small round seeds are herbs specifically selected for your condition, which we tape on acupuncture points of the outer ear. They generally remain in place for 3 to 7 days. Ear seeds treat conditions like pain management, physical or emotional disturbances.

Thermomagnetic Therapy (TDP)

Thermomagnetic Therapy involves a medical infrared heating device. The far infrared (below visible light) emissions increases microcirculation and loosen fascia to accelerate the body's natural healing processes. The FDA has approved the class of devices to which it belongs for temporary relief from pain and arthritis.

Lifestyle

Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on an active life with minimal stress – emphasizing the mind-body connection in harmony with nature. Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, meditation, self-massage and any activity alongside nature is an integral part of daily life to keep the body moving, the mind calm and clear. Every emotional stress has a physical repercussion inside the body and vice versa; this is how pain and disease begin. We work with you to make lifestyle changes to create better harmony and balance so you can live with more comfort and joy.

Dedication:
My vow of dedication to my patients is to lead by example, practice what I preach and in return offer unconditional support in the healing of the body, mind and spirit through the art of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I trust and believe this medicine to not only be a form of treatment, but a way of living. Through the use of acupuncture, herbal medicine, diet and exercise; in combination with compassion, wisdom and motivation I promise to use all my knowledge and abilities to comfort and restore health to each and every one of my patients. There is a life beyond pain, anguish and despair. I devote my practice to do all that I can to bring my patients back into the balance of body, mind, and spirit, so that they may experience and enjoy their gift of life. - Cherlyn Coplon BS, MSOM, Lac
